Nope, not because of the Mayans, but because life is happening, and it was getting impossible with only four months left to try to overcome the deficits that this convention was running. As we got closer and closer, the prices kept on creeping up until we got into the stupid price range.

From the hall to the t-shirts, this event ran into bills that would have cost somewhere on the order of “oh my goodness, I can’t afford to do this”.

We are very sorry that PopCultureCon is not going to happen this year, but will do our best to make it happen next year. In the meantime, there are other conventions to go to in the Seattle Bellevue area, and that should at least make for a somewhat happy day.

Upcoming Cons to go see in Seattle and Bellevue

There are three major shows going on in September and October that are worth checking out. Supporting local comic shows and an anime show are important if we want to keep this medium alive so make sure you check these shows out and have some fun at them.

 

Jet City Comic Show – a single day show on September 24th at the Seattle Center. Tickets are just 8 dollars at the door or through Brown Paper Tickets. Visit http://jetcitycomicshow.com for more information.

Akicon – a 3 day show at the Bellevue Hilton hotel on 112th Ave. Akicon is on October 7th 2011 through October 9th 2011. This is the eastsides biggest Anime/Manga show and not to be missed. If you have Otaku – this is the one show to visit. You can find out more about Akicon right here.

Geek Girl Con – a 2 day show at the Seattle Convention Center at 6th and Pike. Geek Girl Con is a brand new show on October 8th and 9th 2011 (which of course cuts right into prime Akicon time). Geek Girl Con is celebrating its first year ever, so if your Otaku have time for comics and wants to head on down to Seattle, this is a must see show. comics forgePop Culture Con 2012 is well into development at this time with the aim of being an awesomely cool mid-summer pop culture celebration. We are currently in negotiations with the Bellevue Hilton hotel to host us on the 18th and 19th of August 2012. Stand by for more awesome news and cool things to do, see, and experience with this site and our developing convention news.

We are looking forward to seeing you and making one the east sides more unique pop culture experience for the whole family.
